Garruchos S.A.: Forest Industrial division - POMERA Maderas - (http://www.pomera.com.ar) manufactures products traded in the local market and abroad. The genetic manipulation of species is carried out in their greenhouse and they have developed their own specimens that are reproduced through modern cloning systems. All the companies that make up Pomera carry out a sustainable management of the plantations and natural resources around them. In 2005 they obtained the FSC certification (Forest Stewardship Council, www.fsc.org) for responsible woods and industry management and is integrated to the Esteros del Iberá management plan.

Publishing Activity and Movies Production

Among his business activities, Hugo Sigman, along with other intellectuals concerned about culture development and spread, founded Capital Intelectual Publishing House (www.editorialcapin.com.ar), which publishes Le Monde Diplomatique (www.eldiplo.org) for Latin America, among some other media.

Again in the cultural sector and in association with Oscar Kramer, Hugo Sigman created K&S Films (www.ks-films.com); an Argentine company dedicated to the local and foreign integral movies production.

Pharmaceutical Activity:

Hugo Sigman is a partner of the Chemo Group (www.chemogroup.com), which is dedicated to the manufacture and trade of pharmaceutical and veterinary products, both raw materials and intermediates. Chemo is a company located in Madrid, with chemical plants for the manufacture of active principles in Spain, Italy and China and pharmaceutical products in Spain, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Poland, Russia, Thailand, India, Vietnam and China, among others. Romikin is the commercial office of Chemo in Argentina. Besides, he is one of the owners (along with Luis Alberto Gold and the Sielecki family) in laboratorio Elea (www.laboratorioelea.com.ar), an Argentine company that has been researching and developing reliable medicines for several medical specialties since 1939. The laboratory is supported by business units with leader brands, its own Research & Development projects, main international companies’ licenses, manufacturing plants operating in absolute synchrony and a wide range distribution network. Therefore, it is amongst the first positions in the Argentine pharmaceutical market. It produces medicines in the following areas: Women’s Health; Antibiotics; Biotechnology and Vaccines; Neuropsychiatry; Cardiology; Metabolism; AIDS and OTC medicines.

Currently, Chemo has five chemical and pharmaceutical plants located in China and India. The main one, Goldpharma, is engaged in the manufacturing of active ingredients and plays a key role in its expansion process in the Middle East. The Group has several representative marketing branches: Chemway in China, Sinensix in Vietnam and Thailand, and Chemo Asia which provides coordination for all the group activities in this continent.The company has incorporated the Shangai biosimilar producer Clonbiotech from Chinese parent Fosum Pharma.More than ten new products will be launched in Asia soon related to therapeutic areas, such as Women Health, Primary Care and Oncology.

Hugo Sigman is also a shareholder, along with Luis Alberto Gold, Diego Alberto Zito, Alejandro Marcelo Zito, Paula Marcela Zito and the brothers Juan Carlos y Sebastián Bagó, of the pharmaceutical and veterinary company Biogénesis-Bagó (www.biogenesisbago.com). Biogénesis-Bagó is a regional company that was born from the merger of two leading companies in animal health and biotechnology in Argentina: Biogénesis and Instituto San Jorge Bagó. These companies – with over 60 years in the regional market and with outstanding scientific and commercial backgrounds in health and animal productivity sectors – have always searched for responses to rural problems. The company is dedicated to the research and development of top quality veterinary products, thus becoming a regional reference and supplying its clients the tools to improve animal productivity. It has over a hundred state-of-the-art pharmaceutical products and biological specialties, including bacterial vaccines, virals, antibiotics, antiparasitics, and pharmaceutical specialties for bovines, sheep, horses, pigs, pets, birds and fish.
