León-Farma plant has set to get off the ground, with the best wishes of success

Last October 9, the president of Junta de Castilla and León, with the presence of Chemo chairman (http://www.chemogroup.com) , Hugo Sigman, the major of Villaquilambre, Miguel Hidalgo, and the chairwomen of Navatejera neighborhood organization, Inés Moreno, opened the inauguration ceremony at León Farma plant which was held at Polígono Industrial de Villaquilambre. Sigman announced that the plant line production will be expanded into eight, thus increasing its staff up to 150 or 200 employees. Furthermore, the neighborhood organization’s chairwoman conveyed her support to the group’s future projects in Villaquilambre in which the industrial park -along with the University- may become a biotechnology regional center. The major highlighted that the construction of these outstanding industrial facility and its second-phase sart-up had been possible thanks to the cooperation and consensus obtained.

The 20 million amount investment –out of which 6 million came from public administration- had served to set up a plant designed to produce 500 million tablets per year in the gynecology field, targeted to the European and U.S. women’s health. But in addition to this recently inaugurated plant, the group plans to invest other 15 million more in the construction of a new plant, which will also bear the regional support conveyed by the president of Junta de Castilla y León.

Currently, 35 highly technically-skilled employees are working at the plant, 90% of which are natives of Leon province and other 40 employees work for the plant through external companies. In three or four years, once the recently announced new production lines are opened, more than 150 direct positions and other 150 external positions will be created, as stated by multinational Chemo chairman, Hugo Sigman, whose future hope was corroborated by Juan Vicente Herrera, president of Junta de Castilla y León, stating that with the collaboration of the university, Leon province may become the capital of biotechnology research.

With Leon Farma plant as the outstanding one, Parque Industrial de Villaquilambre will be the core of these industrial enterprises along with other pharmaceutical companies following Chemo’s trail, announced the major of Villaquilambre. In this regard, Miguel Hidalgo reminded the importance of the expansion of the industrial park which will cover almost a 800,000 square feet area. He assured that this has been possible thanks to the collaboration and consensus obtained from people and political groups.
